A quartz snuff bottle, Chinese, 1760-1860.

The bottle, of honey chalcedony, has a green inclusion on the front which is amusingly carved, in relief, to depict a cricket resting on a cabbage, 6.2cm.

The craftsman has shown great skill in utilising the natural inclusions in the stone to depict the subject.
