The bottle, which is 7.8cm high, has an ornate gold filigree neck and shoulder, is mounted on a gold filigree base and encircled by bands of gold wire. Whilst it would seem to have the appearance rather of a scent bottle, and may well have been used as such in the past, when restored in 2002, it was found to contain remnants of snuff.
