This group encompasses a huge variety of objects, many of importance and great beauty. Both the 17th century 5th Earl and his 18th century descendant, the 9th Earl traveled extensively in Europe and spent lavishly collecting wonderful things to display at Burghley. The project of uploading images and descriptions to this website is now in hand and will continue gradually until all items of importance can be seen by visitors.
