Each cup has a hemispherical bowl chased with panels of landscapes, fruit and scrolls; the lip engraved with strapwork and foliage. The bracketed vase-shaped stem and circular foot of each cup is also chased with strapwork and fruit. Double cups of this kind were particularly popular in Germany in the late 16th Century.
