The dish, which measures 35cm in diameter, is painted with pheasants amongst a clump of peony growing from rocks. The term famille verte refers to Chinese porcelain wares manufactured largely during the Kangxi period of the Qing dynasty (1662-1722). The colour range included yellow, blue, red, purple and green, usually on a white ground.
