Woodpigeon, owned by Brownlow, 2nd Marquess of Exeter K.G. (1795-1867), won the Ascot Stakes in 1847 and again at Newmarket in 1848.
Harry Hall was an equestrian artist whose paintings were in great demand.
He was considered to be the finest racehorse portraitist of his day.
