A Miniature of Thomas Pakenham, 2nd Earl of Longford (1774-1835), French School, in the manner of J-B Isabey, circa 1820.

Oval 7cm, in a gilt-metal frame, the surmount with interlaced L’s below an earl’s coronet; the frame signed by Alphonse Giroux, Paris.

Thomas Pakenham, 2nd Earl of Longford and his wife Georgiana were the parents of Georgina (1827-1909), wife of William Alleyne, 3rd Marquess of Exeter (1825-1895).

Jean Baptiste Isabey (1767-1855), was a highly successful French artist who received commissions from Queen Marie Antoinette early in his career and continued to work for those ruling France until his death.
