The Virgin and Child, Central Italian Follower of Guido Reni (1575-1642).

Reni was one of the leading artists of the Bolognese School, with two successful and prolific studios in his native Bologna.

Through his almost two hundred pupils, the most distinguished of whom was Simone Cantarini (1612-1648), he had a far reaching influence on later Baroque art.

He was also active in Rome and Naples.
