Saint Dominic (1170-1221) was a Spanish priest and the founder in 1216 of the Dominican Order in the French city of Toulouse.
He is the patron saint of astronomers.
Francesco Albani was a Bolognese artist who, from the age of twelve was apprenticed in the studio of Denis Calvaert (1540-1619), where he met Guido Reni (1575-1642), with whom he eventually joined the Caracci family studio.
Throughout his career, he worked in many of the great artistic centres in Italy, but was active mainly in his native Bologna.
