Lady Victoria Cecil was the youngest child of Brownlow, 2nd Marquess of Exeter (1795-1867), and his wife Isabella.
Her christening, recorded here in pen, grey ink and watercolour, took place in the Chapel at Burghley on 13th November 1844, with Prince Albert standing as sponsor, or godparent.
The Prince Consort and Queen Victoria paid a very successful visit to Burghley between 12th and 15th November 1844 and the landscape artist and portrait painter Henry Ziegler (1793-1874) was commissioned to record important events during the visit.
