The Arrival of Queen Victoria at Burghley, signed H.B. Ziegler, Nov 1844.

The oil painting records the arrival of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert at Burghley on the evening of 12th November 1844, at the start of a three day visit.

The following evening, Prince Albert stood as sponsor, or godparent, at the christening of Lady Victoria Cecil, the youngest child of Brownlow, 2nd Marquess of Exeter (1795-1867), and his wife Isabella.

Henry Brian Ziegler (1798-1874), was a British landscape artist and portrait painter, commissioned to record important moments during the Royal visit.

He was also drawing master to members of the Royal Family.
