Oil on panel, oval, 62.5cm by 46cm.
It has been suggested that this painting can be attributed to Capanna Senese, a Sienese painter mentioned by Giorgio Vasari (1511-1574) in his early biography of artists, sculptors and architects. He was described as a friend of Baldassarre Peruzzi (1481-1537) and the co author, with Domenico Pecori (1480-1527) of the Marinelli altarpiece, once in the Cathedral of Arezzo and now in the town’s museum.
