Lady Elizabeth Aislabie (1706-1733), was the daughter of John, 6th Earl of Exeter (1674-1721).
She married William Aislabie of Studeley Royal in 1722. SEE PIC075.
The 1738 Burghley Inventory records: ‘Lady Exeter’s Dressing Room….a Picture of Lady Betty Aislaby, 1 qr & half long, qr & 2 Inches broad; half Length.’
The Lady Exeter referred to was Hannah Sophia, 8th Countess of Exeter (1702-1765), and sister-in-law of the sitter.
Enoch Seeman the Younger was born into a family of painters in Danzig (now Gdansk).
In 1704 his father, also Enoch, brought him to London where he was to become a painter at the Court of George II and Queen Caroline, whose coronation portraits he painted.
