A Portrait of a Tudor Lady in a rich Costume, Flemish School, early 1570’s.

Oil on panel, 30.5cm by 24.5cm.

Both the artist and the sitter for this jewel-like painting are, as yet, unknown.

It was once thought to be Mary Tudor; her cousin, Mary, Queen of Scots has also been suggested.

However, it is now considered that the subject is, most probably, a high-born Flemish lady circa 1570.
