Lady Dorothy Neville, English School.

Circa 1750, half-length, with brown hair adorned with blue bows and pearls, wearing a lace-trimmed blue dress, oval, 4.5cm, gilt-metal frame.

Although the sitter has the same name as the first wife of the 1st Earl of Exeter (1542-1622), there is no record of a close connection with the Nevilles more than a century later and Lady Dorothy may simply have been a friend of the family.
