Girolamo da Treviso the Younger was both a sculptor and painter.
He worked in several Italian cities, including Bologna, Mantua and Genoa, absorbing the influences of both Giorgione (1477-1510) and Raphael (1483-1520).
He later travelled to England to work as a military engineer for Henry VIII, where he is also known to have painted.
In his role as engineer, he was killed by a cannon shot at the Siege of Boulogne in 1544.
