The Hebrew Bible records that God provided manna, a seed-like food, for the Israelites as they travelled across the desert for forty days on their way from Egypt to the Promised Land.

Francesco Bassano the Younger studied with his father Jacopo in the workshop which had been founded by his grandfather, Francesco the Elder, in Bassano del Grappa, near Venice.

After his father’s death, the workshop was continued by Francesco and his three brothers.

Francesco also founded a family workshop in Venice.
