The Carracci family, Ludovico and his cousins Annibale (1560-1609) and Agostino (1557-1602) were the most influential painters of their time in their native Bologna.
They transformed Italian art with the introduction of the Baroque style, founding an artists’ studio, or academy, through which passed many great artists, including Guercino (1591-1666) and Domenichino 1581-1641)).
