David Teniers the Younger was a Flemish artist, born in Antwerp in 1610; he died in Brussels in 1690. The son, father and grandfather of painters, he was a versatile and prolific artist, best known for his scenes of peasant life.
Paris Bordone was born into a noble family in Treviso in 1500 and died in Venice in 1571. He was, for a time, a pupil of Titian and painted many religious works in Venice, Treviso and Vicenza. He was invited to France by Francis I, where he spent several years and painted portraits of the Royal Family and senior members of their court, before returning to Venice.
