David Teniers the Younger was a Flemish artist, born in Antwerp. The son, father and grandfather of painters, he was a versatile and prolific artist, best known for his scenes of peasant life.
Paris Bordone was born into a noble family in Treviso. He was, for a time, a pupil of Titian and painted many religious works in Venice, Treviso and Vicenza.
He was invited to France by Francis I, where he spent several years, painting portraits of the Royal Family and senior members of their court, before returning to Venice.
