Christ borne aloft, by Giovanni Battista Gaulli called Il Baciccio (1639-1709).

A Bozzetto, 46cm by 35cm.
Related to the dome of the Vestibule of the Baptistery Chapel of St. Peter’s, Rome.

Gaulli was one of the leading artists in Rome during the latter part of the 17th Century and one of the principal painters patronised by John, 5th Earl of Exeter (1648-1700).

He was perhaps best known for his vault frescos in the Church of the Gesu.
