Signed, inscribed and dated ‘Marquis of Exeter K.G./ London. Octr. 1836. Painted/ from life by Henry Pierce/ Bone, Enamel Painter to her/ Majesty & their R.Hs the Duchess of Kent and/ Princess Victoria.’ on the counter-enamel.
Brownlow (1795-1867), inherited the title as a boy of nine on the death of his father Henry, 10th Earl and 1st Marquess of Exeter. He would later hold the position of Gentleman of the Bedchamber to Prince Albert at the court of Queen Victoria.
