An unusual enamel snuff box, mid 18th Century.

The lid of this snuff box, with reeded gilt-metal mounts, is painted with a bouquet of tulip, peony and convolvulus tied with orange ribbon.

The sides and base have further specimen flowers.

The corners are decorated with puce flake and scroll patterns and the interior of the lid and the base are sketched in black and crimson with rocaille cartouches.

It is either German, the work of Bartolomeo Zeuter, or from Birmingham, 8.3cm wide.
