An opaque mauve glass snuff bottle, Chinese, 1830-1900.

The bottle, of flattened form, is carved on one side with a spray of narcissus and on the other, with an apochryphal Qianlong inscription.

This would date the bottle to 1736-1795, but the lack of skill with which the characters are inscribed points to a later date.

It is carved from a solid piece of glass rather than the more usual method of mould blowing, 5.7cm.
