An ivory carved snuff bottle, Chinese, Qianlong (1736-1795).

The bottle is carved in high relief with the figure of Guanyin standing on the head of a dragon.

The dragon’s scaly body extends around the reverse to envelop a robed boy holding a sceptre; the scene all on a ground of pierced clouds, 6.7cm.

The base has the four character Qianlong mark within a double square.

Made in the Beijing Palace Workshops.
