An ivory carved snuff bottle, Chinese, 1800-1900.

The spade-shaped bottle is intricately carved and decorated in polychrome enamels.

A continuous scene depicts figures in a pavilion watching a boat pass by on a raging torrent, whilst a donkey is being led along the towpath to one side.

The reverse has a figure on horseback watched from above by a lady in a pavilion; with matching original stopper, 8cm.
