An Italian white marble bust of a Bacchante, Venice, late 17th Century.

The Bacchante is depicted gazing upwards, with vines in her hair and is set on a later black slate and marble socle, the whole 63cm high. The 1804 Burghley Inventory records: “Old Hall…4 do. busts Silenas, Bacchus, Ceres & a Bacchant”.
