The upper part of the oval body is engraved with flutes, below which are two bands with scrolls and foliage; on an oval foot, 8.5cm high.
The 1690 Devonshire Schedule recording an immense bequest from the Countess of Devonshire to her daughter Anne, Countess of Exeter, lists under ‘Christalls Garnisht and plaine’: A wrought Christall fflower pott upon an ovall ffoot the Top silver Guilt’.
The silver-gilt top is now missing.
