The deep bowl, 11.2cm in diameter, is of finely marked agate, with a flared foot. Expert opinion is that the bowl is neither European, nor Indian, and is most likely to be of Turkish origin.The name agate is derived from the place in Sicily where it was first discovered in ancient times.
