The bullock, which is realistically cast, sits on a naturalistically chased rectangular base. It carries the mark of Robert Garrard, London, 1836. Garrards were the Crown Jewellers from 1843 to 2007, during which time they produced silver ware and jewellery for members of the Royal Family, as well as being responsible for the care and upkeep of the British Crown Jewels.
