A W. & S. Jones brass Planetarium, London, circa 1800.

The Planetarium is made of brass and ivory.

It demonstrates the movements of the planets around the sun and is an example of the kind of scientific instrument acquired by Henry, Ist Marquess of Exeter (1754-1804), who was extremely interested in the sciences.

The 1804 Burghley Inventory records:.. ‘Library…a Mahogany box with orrery /Jones/.’
