A Victorian centrepiece in the form of a mounted picador and bull, Robert Garrard, London, 1848.

Mounted on an oval base and ebonised plinth with silver feet, of 1849, the overall height, including the base is 54cm, the width 44cm and the depth 46cm.
Two silver plaques are engraved with the inscriptions “Ascot 1849 – The Gift of Her Majesty” and “Won by Glenalvon”. 

Brownlow, 2nd Marquess of Exeter, KG (1795-1867), was renowned for his dedication to horse racing and this magnificent trophy represents one of numerous triumphs he enjoyed during many years of involvement in the sport.
