A transparent pale green glass snuff bottle, Chinese, 1780-1880.

The circular bottle is carved with circular panels depicting, on one side, Zhonggui, the Demon Queller, flashing a sword at bats in flight, and on the other, a demon kneeling before a bearded sage beneath a tree.

The shoulders are carved with bats suspending mock ring handles, 5.9cm.

Glass bottles with decoration carved directly onto the body are less common than those with overlay decoration.
