A Tournai coffee cup and bullet-shaped teapot and cover, circa 1760/65.

Both are moulded with fine spiral ribbing, painted in purplish underglaze blue, with a stylised oriental flowering tree emerging from a rock garden beneath a border of fine lambrequins.

The base of the teapot also has crossed swords and a cross mark, together with an incised monogram IF.

There is a similar fruit dish and cover in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.

The porcelain factory in Tournai, Belgium produced porcelain from about the mid 18th Century until the mid 19th Century.
