A tourmaline snuff bottle, Chinese, 1730-1850.

The green tourmaline bottle is carved in the form of a peach, the shoulders enveloped by a gnarled stalk with long leaves.

A pink inclusion on the foot is carved to depict a bat, 6.2cm.

Most tourmaline snuff bottles date from the late 19th, or early 20th Centuries, but this example is considerably earlier, characterised by the greater simplicity of carving.
