A suite of seven Chinese blue and white dishes, Kangxi (1662-1722).

The dishes, in five different sizes, vary from 31.5 cm to 43cm in diameter.

The centres are pencilled in greyish underglaze blue with squirrels almost hidden amongst fruiting vines.

Stalks of bamboo and a clump of carnations complete the painted decoration.

The wide flat borders are carved in shallow relief with peony and chrysanthemum; the underside decorated with two branches of bamboo.

The rims are dressed with iron oxide.
