A Still Life with Flowers in a Vase, Books and a Flagon of Wine, Spanish or Neapolitan School, circa 1650.

Oil on canvas, 48cm by 68.5cm.
Inscribed: PVLC/TVDO.

This fine painting and its pair PIC160 were recorded by Brownlow, 9th Earl of Exeter (1725-1793), as by Angelo Battaglia, a name unfamiliar to modern art historians.

They were probably acquired in Naples by either Brownlow, 9th Earl of Exeter (1725-1793), or his great grandfather, John, 5th Earl (1648-1700), whilst on the Grand Tour.
