A southern Landscape by a Follower of Gaspard Dughet (1615-1675).

Oil on canvas, 33cm by 51cm.

Dughet, who was born in Rome, was a pupil of his brother-in-law Nicholas Poussin (1594-1665), and became widely known as Gaspard Poussin.

He specialised in landscapes of the Roman Campagna and became one of the leading landscape artists of his day.

His works were particularly popular with English Grand Tourists in the 18th Century.
