This little cup, which is 7cm high, is painted in the Kakiemon palette, excluding yellow, with four panels of either hibiscus or Buddhist emblems alternating with four panels of karakusa scroll, executed in a reverse technique on an iron-red ground heightened with gilding; the rim is dressed in iron-brown.
