A Sketch for a Ceiling, by Henry Mitchell, 19th Century.

Pen and brown ink. Signed l.r: Henry Mitchell fecit and inscribed on verso.

This is described as being a sketch for the music gallery and appears to be based upon a small area of early ceiling, which remains at Burghley, and was possibly once part of a mezzanine gallery on the south side of the House.

It is framed with another ceiling design by the artist.
