The lid, handle and foot of this small tankard are applied with elaborate silver-gilt filigree scrollwork, 9.8cm high.
It appears in the 1690 Devonshire Schedule, or Deed of Gift, a large bequest from Elizabeth, Countess of Devonshire (1619-1689), to her daughter Anne, Countess of Exeter (1649-1703) records under ‘Christalls Garnisht and plaine’: ‘A small Christall fflagon sett togeather with silver philligrin guilt.’
