A set of six Chelsea sunflower dishes, circa 1755.

Each dish is boldly and naturalistically moulded as a large yellow-petalled sunflower bloom with manganese purple stamens, set among finely veined green leaves and with a stalk handle.

The ground foot rim, carries the red anchor mark, 22cm.

The 1867 Burghley Inventory records: ‘No. 54 China Closet….4 sunflowers.’

The red anchor mark referred to porcelain produced at Chelsea between 1752 and 1756.
