A set of six Chelsea sunflower dishes, circa 1755.

Each dish boldly and naturalistically moulded as a large yellow-petalled sunflower bloom with manganese purple stamens, set among finely veined green leaves, with stalk handle, ground foot rim, red anchor mark, 22cm.

The 1867 Burghley Inventory records: ‘No. 54 China Closet….4 sunflowers’.
