A set of four Japanese Imari ovoid jars and domed covers, late 17th/early 18th Century.

The jars are decorated in underglaze blue, iron-red, aubergine, yellow, black and gilding with a continuous band of peony and plum rising from rockwork.

The shoulders are painted with iris and blossoming branches in a fenced garden; the ridged footring embellished with pointed leaves and demi-flowerheads.

The cover is similarly decorated and set with a button knop, 33cm.
