A set of four Imari ovoid jars and domed covers, late 17th/early 18th Century.

The jars, which are 33cm in height, are decorated in underglaze blue, iron-red, aubergine, yellow, black and gilding with a continuous band of peony and plum rising from rockwork. The shoulders are painted with iris and blossoming branches in a fenced garden, the ridged footring is embellished with pointed leaves and demi-flowerheads and the cover is similarly decorated and set with a button knop.
