A set of four Anglo Flemish late 17th Century walnut footstools.

The rectangular padded slip-in seats and moulded seat-rails are supported by scrolled legs headed by masks.

With pierced leaf and figure-carved side stretchers and H-formed turned centre stretchers, width 74cm.

The 1763 Burghley Inventory records: ‘the North dressing room … four wallnut tree stools carv’d, coverd with crimson damask.’
