A section of the Blue and Silver Tapestries, attributed to John Vanderbank, London, circa 1685.

A formal garden scene is depicted with a massive urn filled with summer flowers and a fountain in a landscape, 296cm high, 390cm wide.

The tapestry has been cut to accommodate a door.

The 1763 Burghley Inventory records: ‘The bedchamber … three pieces of tapestry shades of blue heightened with gold.’
