A Rocky River Landscape, by Frederick Richard Lee, R.A. (1798-1879).

Frederick Richard Lee was a pupil of the Royal Academy, of which he became an Associate in 1834 and a full Member four years later.

He was a prolific artist whose oil paintings of mainly landscapes and pastoral scenes were produced on both canvas and board.

He also worked in collaboration with Thomas Sidney Cooper (1803-1902) and Sir Edwin Landseer (1802-1873), both noted for their paintings of animals, which they set within Lee’s landscapes.
