A quartz snuff bottle, Chinese, 1780-1850.

The bottle, of flattened form, is of honey chalcedony carved in relief on each side with a pair of prancing horses, framed by tiered rockwork, 6.5cm.

The treatment of the rockwork, with its notched details, together with the relief carving on this bottle is similar to CSBQ.49.

The craftsman has shown great skill in utilising the natural inclusions in the stone to depict the subjects.
