A quartz snuff bottle, 1780-1850.

The bottle is of dark honey chalcedony, with dark inclusions on the front carved to depict the scholar, Shou Lao, walking across a rocky ledge towards a goose, which is perched on top of a tall outcrop of rock; a small boy is following behind and there are numerous birds in flight, both above, and around the shoulders of the bottle, 6.9cm.
