A quartz snuff bottle, Chinese, 1760-1850.

The pebble-shaped bottle is of a natural crystal form, with a white skin incised with a calligraphic inscription and seals, 7.4cm.

Whilst the use of naturally formed pebbles was not uncommon in the manufacture of snuff bottles, the use of a natural crystal, as in this case, is very rare.
