This portrait, thought in the past to be of Rembrandt’s father, was perhaps by Thomas Worlidge (1700-1766), who was born in Peterborough and noted for his etched and painted imitations of Rembrandt. It was left to the 9th Earl, according to a label on the reverse:”For the Earl of Exeter Left him by Mrs Jane Wilkinson.” It is a pair to PIC125.
