A porcelain snuff bottle, Chinese, 1830-1880.

The circular bottle, of flattened form, is painted in green and black with a white panel on each side.

On one side is depicted Chung-kuei and a bat, and on the other, a scholar and his pupil, 6.6cm.

It was made in Jingdezhen, the centre for the production of porcelain in China.
